The seminar was initiated by the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources of West Java Province was held in the Hotel Savoy Homan, Bandung. This event inviting the stakeholders relating to the construction of Geopark Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu and local communities in the Geopark Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu. This seminar is one of the activities to introduce the Geopark area Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu. The event was opened by the Head of Department of Energy and the and Mineral Resources last for two sessions.
On December 22, 2015, Geopark Ciletuh set to become National Geopark and in 2017 planned to be succeed win the title of UNESCO Global Geopark by UNESCO. With regional dissemination seminars as Geopak Ciletuh and other activities can certainly support the success of this region earned the title UNESCO Global Geopark in 2017. In the first session, the speakers who presented each of the topics include: Dr. Ir. Yus Yunus Kusumahbrata, M.Sc. (Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources) on the topic “The policy of the Central Government”; Deputy Tourism Destination Development and Industry (Ministry of Tourism) on the topic “Development of Tourism Potential Geopark”; “Regional Assistant II for Economic Affairs and Development Sector West Java Province As a Chairman of the business-Palabuhanratu Ciletuh Geopark (Secretariat of West Java Province) on the topic” Geopark Area Development Plan “; PT. Bio Farma with the topic “Private Role in the Development of Regions”.
Then continued to the second session, among others: Regional Assistant II for Economic and Development Sukabumi (Regional Secretariat Sukabumi district) with the discussion “Implementation Geopark Area Management”; Prof. Ir. Mega Fatimah Rosana, M.Sc, Ph.D (Geopark and Geological Research Centre) with the topic “Potential Geopark Region”; Ronald Agusta (Professional) on the topic “Role of publication in the Geopark Area Development”; The latter is of the Paguyuban Alam Pakidulan Sukabumi (PAPSI) on the topic “Role of Local Community in Development of Geopark Area”.
Once the material presented by the speaker, the event continued in the Question & Answer session. The seminar participants seemed very enthusiastic in giving question, seen from the questioner who volunteered when the moderator invited to ask. Participants who come from different backgrounds ask some questions related to the Geopark Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu, such as how the realization that has been implemented by the government towards Geopark development and how the continuation of support programs of development. Even the Head of Cisolok Subdistrict also asked questions to the presenters related to the lack of socialization regarding Geopark in the district which he led.
Thus, in accordance with the expectations of the Event Coordinator at the opening, National Seminar of Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu Geopark is expected to become a place of stakeholders and the public to hear, understand and elaborating policies in the management of Geopark Ciletuh – Palabuhanratu. With the existence of such activities, the Central Government, Local Government, and other related parties increasingly look serious in the development of the National Geopark Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu.
