Sunday, May 14, 2017, a community of the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB), Himavo Likista, held a seminar with the theme “Consevation” which is specifically held in the geopark Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu. Participants who participated in this activity amounted to 30 more people consisting of students from various majors. This seminar is one of a series of events such as beach cleaning, ketapang planting, and the peak event is the release of hatchlings at Pantai Pengumbahan.

The seminar was held in PAPSI secretariat in Tamanjaya Village. The speakers who filled this seminar were Prof. Ir. Mega Fatimah Rosana, M.Sc., P.hd., as geologist and geopark expert from Padjadjaran University, Kiki Herdansyah from Bio Farma as partner of geopark, and Endang Sutisna as Chairman of PAPSI Community.

On that occasion, Ms. Professor Mega presented materials about the geopark concept and profil of the National Geopark Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu. She said that conservation is one aspect that can not be separated from a geopark. Student activities like this should be conducted routinely and better if other institutions can hold similar events. Then according to Endang Sutisna or commonly called Mr. Entis, local people in Ciletuh also must have awareness to conserve the natural surroundings and for that reason community PAPSI stand. One of the important pillars in a geopark is conservation of natural wealth. Conservation must be implemented by every community or area visitor. Of course the involvement of educational institutions also play an important role in the development of conservation aspects, he said.
