Based on some research over the past few years, Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu National Geopark Area possesses a number of geological heritages that must be preserved. Currently it has been recorded around more than 60 points of geological heritage site location in Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu Area.
Along with the rapid development in the Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu National Geopark area, information on the potential of new geological sites within the region is also growing. This prompted the Expert Team of the Geopark Management Agency to undertake the exploration of data updating. These data will then be processed to become new information that will be published in various media.
For example, Tugu Peak and Mega Peak Viewpoint in Mekarsakti Village, Ciemas Subdistrict, is a suitable location to see the amphitheater landscape from the north side. Then Ceuri Sand in Cibenda Village, Ciemas Subdistrict, where we can see the splendor of Puncak Manik Curug from the top of the southern cliff and Plato Jampang landscape. Access road for the three points is relatively still quite difficult to reach by regular vehicles because of the rocky and bumpy road conditions. So to go to this location is recommended to use four-wheel drive or can also rent a local motorcycle taxi.
Then there is a stone park in District Waluran, which is commonly referred by local people as ‘Batu Bubut”. This naming is based on the uniqueness of the rocks here that have natural lines and its distribution is shaped like a maze. Access to the location is quite easy because it is located near the side of Waluran main road. However, the condition of this site still needs structuring and cleaning especially for shrubs that cover the rocky passageways. All parties of both communities, landowners and village governments have declared ready to organize this site in order to be visited by tourists.
In the northern part of geopark, the potential of uncharted geological sites is Cibangban and Habibie Peak. Beaches in this region have different characteristics with the beach near the downtown of Palabuhanratu such as Citepus and Cimaja beach. The difference lies in the white sand and towering rocky cliffs that border the coastal area.
