The establishment of Geopark should be based on strong community support and involvement of local communities, through a “botom-up” process. The success can only be achieved through strong local community involvement. Therefore, the initiative to establish a geopark must come from local communities and governments with a strong commitment. Currently in the Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu National Geopark, there are already numerous local communities like PAPSI, POKMASI, PPC, KARANG TARUNA, KOMPEPAR, PALAPAH, Farmers Group, Group of Livestock, Extension village, and others. All of which share a role in the management and development of geopark in accordance with specialization of each community, such as PAPSI is activist in conservation; KOMPEPAR is activist in tourism; and PALAPAH is activist in Culture.
