UNESCO Global Geopark (UGG), as we know has a network called Global Geopark Network. This network is able to connect fellow UGG to be able to cooperate in various fields. The work of two or more geoparks will usually be a geopark community called geopark sister. Geopark sister is a cooperative relationship between geoparks in various aspects, such as delegation exchanges, leadership training, tourism promotion, work visits, comparative studies and so forth. With this relationship, fellow geopark will be hand in hand in building a geopark. This cooperation is also not tied to UGG, but also applies to national geopark and aspiring geopark.
This is what prompted the delegation of Mount Sewu UNESCO Global Geopark to conduct a visit to the National Geopark Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu. The delegation consisted of 40 people from different backgrounds and positions in the management of geoparks, ranging from tourism service officers, village heads, local tourism managers, and tourism activists.
One of the representatives of Tourism Office of Gunung Kidul Regency said that this visit is to learn from each other and share experiences among geopark. What they want to observe is specifically the way of community empowerment. This is particularly interesting for the participation of BUMNs such as Biofarma in community empowerment and BJB Bank in the development of infrastructure.
The visit were held for 2 days in the geopark area. The object that was visited on the first day was the Cisolok geyser. There, the visiting participants tried vigorously to bathe in hot water pool. Then the next day the journey continued to the area Ciletuh including Panenjoan, Curug Sodong, and Curug Cimarinjung. Then proceed on the main agenda of meeting with PAPSI community to share knowledge of community empowerment.
