The team led by Ir. Hanang Samodra, M.Sc departed to the National Geopark Ciletuh area along with the socialization of geopark integration curriculum to educators in 8 districts included in the area. The event was held at the Regional Secretariat of Sukabumi Regency. Led by the Regent of Sukabumi, Drs. H. Marwan Hamami, M.M accompanied by officials in Sukabumi District Government.
The task of this Team is to evaluate it first before the assessors from UGG come and assess the readiness and feasibility of the Area that has been built and prepared by the Government, Private and society for ± 2 years. UGG assessors will arrive in the middle of this year, the Management Board of GNCP together with other stakeholders increasingly serious in preparing the development in this area.
This activity lasted for three days which was held in some geosite mainstay owned by National Geopark Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu. Ir. Hanang Samodra with the team, Ir. Sam Permanadewi and Ir. A. Ratdopurbo Accompanied by Prof. Mega Fatimah Rosana, M.Sc, Ph.D and member of the GNCP Management Board. Prof. Mega and colleagues explaining the advantages of each geosite shown on the task force team and asking for a feasibility opinion to be shown to the assessor.
The task force team inspects this area for readiness of geological diversity, biodiversity and cultural diversity that is also concerned with sustainable development, the increase in the economic value of local people, the place for learning and understanding of local people about Geopark. After that, the results will be reported to the Regent of Sukabumi and the Governor of West Java and evaluated together as a consideration for preparing the area before the UGG assessor arrives.
Reportedly, the names of assessors who were sent by UNESCO to become verifiers in Geopark National Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu will be out in mid May. Ir. Hanang Samodra, M.Sc said, “Ciletuh is already 70% ready for the arrival of mid-year assessors”, “Hopefully with the seriousness of the Management Board, the government, the private sector and the people in this development, there will be good results that follow” he added.
