Currently, National Geopark Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu become a proposed geopark in Indonesia to enter into the UNESCO Global Geopark (UGG) or a world geopark network. The Government of West Java province with Sukabumi regency government continues to boost preparations for that, especially in the month of April a team of assessors or appraisers from UNESCO will come to national Geopark Ciletuh-Pelabuhan Ratu to assessment. The decision whether or not to qualify himself to be announced of 2018.
Ahmad Heryawan as a Chairman of the Management Board GNCP said, “Because this is representing Indonesia, we are very serious in preparing for UNESCO assessors team will come between April or May. Some preparations such as signs towards geopark, access roads, construction of Tourism Information Center, the gateway geopark and other supporting facilities are in the process of completion and some have been completed”. “They (UNESCO) has given instructions to us for qualifying and we’ve captured everything, all the requirements demanded by UNESCO have and are we prepared,” added Ahmad Heryawan.
After dossier Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu National Geopark (GNCP) being sent to UNESCO, Management Board GNCP back to preparing for the arrival of UNESCO assessment team which will be arrive in the middle of this year. Chief Executive of the Management Board, Prof Deny Juanda Puradimaja said that this activity was implemented to prepare all its aspects before its arrival. Referring to what he said to the Chairman of BP GNCP daily there are 13 Geosites seeded from GNCP Region. Featured the sites consisting of geo-diveristy excellence, bio-diversity, and culture-diversity which are: 1) Panenjoan, 2) Palangpang, 3) Curug Awang, 4) Curug Cimarinjung, 5) Geyser Cisolok, 6) Kampung Adat Kasepuhan Sinar Resmi, 7) Pantai Karang Hawu, 8) Tourist Information Center, 9) Tempat Pelelangan Ikan, 10) Pantai Pangumbahan, 11) Tambak Udang, 12) Pengrajin Gula, 13) Batik Purwasedar will be displayed to the assessment team. Management Board Member GNCP divided the task into three geoarea owned by the region to see and assess what is missing from the geosite so it can be repaired again and GNCP Region Management Agency is getting ready to welcome the arrival of UNESCO.
