JAKARTA – Head of Department of Tourism and Culture of West Java Province, Ida Hernida representing West Java Province received the certificate of UNESCO Global Geopark on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Bappenas RI Building, Central Jakarta in the National Geopark Conference I.
In addition to representing West Java Province, Ida Hernida in the conference, furthermore, exposed the profile of Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu UNESCO Global Geopark, she explained the extent of Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu Geopark region as well as development components of Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu Geopark. In her presentation, she explained about the five main components in the construction of the area of 126,100 hectares, including Central Government to Region, Private Bussines Sector (PT Bio Farma (Persero), Society, Academician and Mass Media.
She believes that the synergy that brings the success of Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu becomes one of UNESCO Global Geopark’s existing list in the world, and being the only one indonesia to be awarded UNESCO Global Geopark without delay. Furthermore, she explained the development strategy of Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu Geopark, such as; Conservation, Promotion, Education and Community Development, in addition to the obligation to build infrastructure, regional arrangement, implementation of government regulations and policies.
According to Ida Hernida, the success of Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu UNESCO Global Geopark has an effect on improving the economy. She explained that the economy of local people there increases every year, there are 140 tour guides whose income up to 1,133%, followed by the increasing number of accommodation facilities such as homestay and implicated in the increase of visitation rate, until 2017 recorded 986,148 visitors coming to Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu UNESCO Global Geopark.
In this conference the Coordinating Minister for Maritim Affair Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, Tourism Minister Arif Yahya, Minister of National Development Planning Bambang Brodjonegoro was attended. In accepting the certificate of UNESCO Global Geopark, in addition to West Java Province, West Nusa Tenggara Province also received an award for the success of Rinjani-Lombok became UNESCO Global Geopark.
