Head of West Java Regional Development Planning Agency Yerry Yanuar presented his research dissertation entitled “The Feasibility Model of Geopark Ciletuh Palabuhanratu Development of Sukabumi Regency West Java Based on Geological Resource” at the Doctoral Promotion Session held at Grha Sanusi Hardjadinata Padjadjaran University, Bandung on Friday (13/7/2018).
He revealed that Geopark Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu area should be able to be taken and manage seriously by the value of the usefulness and value of geological resources. This is very meaningful for the improvement of community welfare and the sustainability of Geopark Ciletuh Palabuhanratu itself. The session, led by Rector of the University of Padjadjaran Tri Hanggono Achmad, Yerry Yanuar was graduated with cum laude.
“The feasibility model of Geopark Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu development based on geological resources generated in the research is expected to be applied to other geopark-geopark development in Indonesia,” hoped Yerry. In his dissertation, he explained that geological resources as a model in the framework of sustainable geopark development on ecological and geological dimensions are determined by indicators of existence and diversity, the value of uniqueness and scarcity and environmental vulnerability.
The man who was born on 29 January 1964 explained that there are 6 points that affect the continuity of the development process of Geopark Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu, namely the social condition of the community, the role, and the community’s participation; enhancement of institutional capacity and inter-institutional cooperation; infrastructure development and utilization of technology; management of the existence, diversity, value of uniqueness and scarcity of geological resources; anticipation and handling of environmental vulnerability related to disaster; as well as the empowerment and improvement of the local community’s economy.
In enhancing the participation of stake-holders of regional development in the development of Geopark Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu area, he suggested that the development of Regional Government-Owned Enterprises for Research, Development and Education of Geopark Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu in West Java Province through the cooperation of Provincial Government West Java, Sukabumi District Government, Padjadjaran University, private sector and Community.
He also suggests the formulation of regulations in the form of Regional Regulation and / or Governor Regulation that can become the legal basis in realizing cooperation and partnership among stakeholders in the development of Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu UNESCO Global Geopark area.
